In 2012, I successfully completed the medicine programme in University of Tirana, Albania. After, I moved to Rotterdam, the Netherlands where I did a master in Public Health in Erasmus Medical Center, and in May 2016, I successfully defended my PhD, which examined different areas of cardiometabolic health. During this period, I did two research internships in Cambridge and Harvard University in UK and US. I continued working as postdoc in Erasmus MC for a year, to then move to Copenhagen to work as pharmaceutical medicine physician in Novo Nordisk headquarters. From December 2018 until April 2023 I worked as Research Group Leader and Docent at the Institute of Preventive Medicine in Bern, University of Bern, Switzerland.

In November 2022, I started as visiting Scholar at Prevention Research Center at Stanford University. I have taught different courses, published over 140 peer-reviewed articles (H-index 45 on Google Scholar), co-authored three books on Elsevier in epigenetic, and supervised over 40 MSc, MD, or PhD students. My scientific work has been covered by the BBC, CNN, Reuters, the Times of London, and the New York Times
