Nadia Elia
Assistant Professor
I obtained a medical degree in 1998 and a doctorate (MD) in 2000 from the medical faculty of the University of Geneva, a diploma in epidemiology in 2006 from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and achieved a Master of Science (MSc) from the University of London in 2008. I trained, and qualified, as a specialist in public health in 2012, obtained the title of Privat-docent (PD) in 2017 and assistant professor in 2021.
For the last 20 years, I have explored different fields of research, including laboratory research, clinical research, meta-research (meta-analyses and research on the research processes) and populational research in the field of cancer. This has given me a realistic view of the state of research. Today, my job is to manage a research team that provides methodological assistance to anaesthesiologist researchers, with the aim to improve the quality of research undertaken. I also teach epidemiology and research methodology to under- and postgraduate fellows and have been recently actively involved in implementing patient partnerships in research in our institution. My research examines how research is performed, and my dream is to find ways to improve it.
